What is AquaVOC?
AquaVOC is part of the next generation of environmental monitoring devices. Enabled by the patent-protected Diffusion Cell technology, this device can detect, measure and monitor a vast array of chemicals known as Volatile Organic Compounds (“VOCs”) in water and soil.

Each instrument includes a diffusion-cell probe, a measurement sensor, data logger and software. For soil and groundwater monitoring, the probes may be buried either above or below the saturated zone.

What are VOCs?
VOCs represent a major class of pollutants in groundwater, soil and air. VOCs include BTEX class of compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene) and chlorinated solvents such as TCE (trichloroethane) and PCE (perchloroethylene).

They are a problem even at low concentrations and can pose a threat to human health and the environment. The United States Environmental Protection Authority has designated VOCs as priority pollutants. In water supply systems VOCs such as THMs (chloroform, etc) are regulated.
