Applications
During remediation of contaminated sites, the monitor provides an alternative to collecting soil and water samples for detailed expensive analysis. The probes provide a continuous readout of soil and water conditions so that the remediation process can be monitored.
Applications include:
 |
Early warning of contamination of soil or groundwater from leaking underground storage tanks and pipelines |
 |
Monitoring and analysis of contaminated sites, before, during and after remediation |
 |
Continuous or intermittent monitoring of soil, water and wastewater |
Contaminated sites that require remediation include sites involving bio-remediation of contaminated groundwater through to former petrol stations, where contaminated soil must be identified and removed for specialised disposal off-site. |

For these applications, AquaVOC can help reduce the cost of remediation. Data from an in-line AquaVOC can be applied as a process control input, to optimise a remediation program. This is because an AquaVOC produces near real-time data, which is not possible using test results from an external lab (where 24 hours is typically the minimum time before results can be provided and usually is more in the order of 3 or 4 days).
Successful Trials
For industrial process water, successful trials have been concluded at Toohey's Lidcombe brewery in Sydney (Australia's second largest brewery) to measure ethanol in their wastewater.
Several key sites in Sydney, Australia have been identified for demonstration purposes, including Orica Limited's Southlands site in Botany. A trial at the Orica’s Botany site will be conducted in the near future for groundwater remediation.
AquaVOC has ben specified for the Singapore PUB Marina Barrage and reservoir monitoring projects. |
